The Road Goes On

Yeah, I was unable to keep anything down, soon to be followed by Shaye.  Allow me to pass along some wisdom I have picked up over the last 5 days, in random order.
  • Being sick is awful.
  • Having a sick child is awful.
  • Laundry can hang on the line for three days without a problem.
  • Washers can easily run again loads that have sat in them for three days.
  • Clean laundry can sit in baskets for three days.
  • Sick little girls generate alot more laundry.
  • Crackers, Sprite and blue Gatorade are blessings from heaven.
  • Kyle is wonderful.  (Made calls to cancel my stuff when I was sick, organized childcare when he had to leave the house, stepped in to cuddle a pitiful Shaye in the chair while I attended a meeting and hosted a lunch.  Luckily we managed to almost completely make it through his birthday yesterday with the entire family intact.  You are awesome!)
  • Sleep fixes almost everything.
  • Sweatshirts and comfy socks help most of the rest.
  • Laughing with friends really is good medicine, especially for a tired mama who sometimes wonders if her life will ever come out of the vortex of the "young children stage".  (Thanks, interns!)
  • Sleeping soundly through the night is a wonderful thing.
  • The mess around the house will not disappear while you are sick.
  • And that's really okay.  It doesn't take as long as you think to put it right again.
  • When one kid is miserable, the smile of the other can help light up the day.
  • When you have more than one kid, being in charge of one at a time (especially the not-sick one) is like a vacation.
  • Do not wear jeans when sick.
  • Cora is adorable when she is trying to sing.  It sounds like the song is about Papa.  Fitting, considering how much quality time they have had over the last few days.
  • Ramen noodles are a great meal in a fix, like when mama has a stomach bug.
  • Ramen noodles should not be eaten by someone with a stomach bug.
  • Trash can make great kid emergency buckets.
  • Toddlers won't understand that emergency buckets are not currently intended for use as a trash can.
  • One should clean said trash can/emergency buckets immediately and not leave them accessible to toddlers. (Nothing gross.  Just a close call.)
  • Writing a semi-humorous post about a troubling series of days makes it seem little less troubling. : )

All very true! (except I'll have to take your word for it that Kyle is wonderful and Cora is adorable when she sings) And clean laundry can sit in baskets for a LOT longer than 3 days -- trust me. :-) Hope everyone gets well soon!
